“Shifting” out of Washington – City Boy Farms

OFM&K’s unofficial satellite location is City Boy Farms (829 Goodwin Store Road, Louisa, VA, 23093), the central-Virginia retreat of Managing Members Marshall S. Filler and Sarah MacLeod. In addition to serving as home office, occasional remote-work location for firm team members and a functioning farm (eggs and vegetables available for delivery in Central and Northern Virginia, click here to contact the farm and get on the weekly mailing list to see what’s available), CBF has become the retreat center of choice for OFM&K’s many aviation colleagues and allies.

As the sign at at the front gate promises, “shift happens here.”

Each July, OFM&K and the firm-managed Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) invite the clients, contacts, partners and other industry stakeholders for a “Day of Fun” at CBF. Visitors join the firm’s team for good food, fellowship and enjoyment of the farm’s many attractions, including beautiful fields, vegetable gardens, chickens, a golf practice area, walking trails, a real pond (for watching wildlife) and a concrete pond with waterfall (for dog paddling and cooling off).

“The farm easily accommodates leisure activities—sunning, swimming, games and other entertainment in very civilized (read, citified) surroundings,” the event invitation promises each year.

The 2019 retreat hosted its first aircraft arrival – a pair of guests arrived in their Robinson helicopter – providing a thrilling spectacle for guests (and opening debate about hosting future introductory flights from the farm’s front lawn.
